LADBROOKE HOUSE

Birmingham, UK

Year 2024

Situated within Birmingham City's dynamic Digbeth Quarter, this project encompassed the refurbishment and extension of The Ladbrooke Hotel building. The objective was to create an 80-bedroom hotel, accommodating groups ranging from 2 to 8 people, along with a ground-floor restaurant and bar, a basement banqueting hall, and a sport facility within the courtyard building.

Originally designed by Ernest H. Wigley between 1919 and 1921, the historic significance of the listed building was paramount. Our proposal meticulously honoured the original design, seamlessly integrating modern extensions. The architectural approach embraced the building's historical context and its relationship with the surrounding streetscape, while infusing a contemporary aesthetic to propel it into the new era of modern living.
